Dr. Kussin is a native of Central New York. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Hobart College and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Kussin completed a study abroad program during his time at NC State in the Galapagos Islands working on giant tortoises. He completed his postgraduate training at Iowa State University, where he spent one year in a demanding internship, gaining more clinical experience primarily in Emergency Medicine.
